2023年8月26日（土）、モントレーJACL（日系アメリカ市民同盟）は日本からの友人たちを歓迎します！
日本人のアワビダイバーは、130年近く前の20世紀に入る前からモントレーに到着し始め、モントレーと日本の千葉県南房総との間に友情が生まれ、それが今も続いています。
日本の歴史家、池田恵美子氏が日本の小谷家に関する調査結果と研究を紹介し、このユニークなパートナーシップについて学びましょう。モントレーの歴史家ティム・トーマス氏とサンタクルーズの歴史家サンディ・ライドン氏の講演もあります。
また、日本人アーティスト、溝口七生が娘の溝口かおり氏からモントレーJACLに寄贈された、南房総時代の現代絵画群も展示します。

On Saturday August 26, Monterey JACL welcomes friends from Japan!
Japanese abalone divers began arriving in Monterey before the turn of the 20th century, close to 130 years ago, creating a friendship between Monterey and Minamiboso in the Chiba Prefecture of Japan that still exists today.
Come and learn about this unique partnership with talks from Japanese historian, Emiko Ikeda who will present her findings and research on the Kodani family in Japan.
There will also be talks from Monterey historian, Tim Thomas and Santa Cruz historian, Sandy Lydon.
We will also be unveiling a group of contemporary paintings of the Minamiboso aera by Japanese artist, Kazuo Mizoguchi donated to the Monterey JACL by his daughter, kaori Mizoguchi
