ウガンダから嬉しいニュースが届きました！
①ついに安房南洋裁学校が再開
②安房南洋裁学校専用の口座が開設
③法務省の政府登録局に安房南洋裁学校登録
去年より、再開に向けてトイレの建設、新しい教室の建設、手動ミシンの購入、
机・椅子の整備など、安房南洋裁学校の再開に向けて様々な努力がなされてきました。
その結果、今回「安房南洋裁学校再開」のニュースが届き、とてもうれしい限りです。
また、「安房・平和のための美術展」の皆さんへウガンダのセンパラ氏よりメッセージと
子供たちの絵を送ったというお知らせがありました。今年の「安房・平和のための美術展」
（8月31日～9月9日）のポスターにウガンダの子どもが描いた絵が用いられました。

私たちは絵が入った封筒をあなた方へ航空便で送ることができうれしいです。2012年8月17日に
送ったので、今月末前にはあなたに届くと思います。私たちがあなたからの絵の依頼を受けた
ときには、子どもたちはすでに2学期の休暇の終わりで学校は閉まっていて申しわけありません。
次回は絵をストックしておき、間に合うようにします。
今年の展覧会に展示されるためのウガンダの子どもたちの絵を私たちが選ぶ機会を与えて
いただいたことに私たちはこの機会を利用して再度「安房・平和のための美術展」に感謝します。
これは私たちを幸せにしただけでなく、支えられ経験を積みながらすばらしいことができるという
大きな望みを子どもたちに与えてくれました。どうぞ私たちの感謝をこのことに携わっている
すべての人に、特にあなたのNPO（安房文化遺産フォーラム）と安房・平和のための美術展に

Various efforts have been made towards the resumption of Awa-Minami
Tailoring School in Uganda. As a result we could receive joyful news.
Moreover, we received message for the members of “Art Exhibition for
Peace in Awa” from Mr. Stuart, and also we received news that he sent
pictures painted by Ugandan children to us. Picture painted by Ugandan
child is used for the poster of “Art Exhibition for Peace in Awa 2012”
～Message from Mr. Stuart～
I am happy to inform you that we were able to send an envelope containing
some paintings from us to you by Airmail. This was done on 17th 08. 2012
and we expect this mail to reach you before the end of this Month. We are
very sorry that by the time we got your request for the paintings, the children
were already in their end of second term holidays and the school was closed.
I hope next time we will be prepared in time with some paintings in stock.
We again take this chance to thank the “Art Exhibition for Peace in Awa” for
selecting the painting done by the Ugandan child to be the poster for this year’s
Exhibition. This has not only made us happy, but it has also given the children
great hope that they can do great things when assisted and exposed. So please
extend our appreciation to all the members involved in this especially your NPO
and The Art Exhibition for Peace in Awa.
ウガンダから5月末月例報告が届きました。
≪安房南洋裁学校≫
No.1 安房南洋裁学校本館 / Awa Minami Tailoring School Main Building
上記写真のように、安房南洋裁学校の本館の化粧直しが始まり、現在も進行中です。
新しい教室区画もまたこの写真の右側に写っており、学生の訓練に向けて準備が整っています。

この報告書を書いているときに、教室内のミシンなどの組み立てと調整がなされていました。
学生たちが紳士服と婦人服を仕立てる洋裁技術を習得する準備として、教室で若者が手動ミシンを
組み立てて、あらゆる調整を行っています。これらの技術は女性たちに提供されます。彼女たちの
何人かは難民であり、未亡人であり、見捨てられた者であり、シングルマザーであり、単に雇用
されていない者もいます。このようにして、安房南洋裁学校はキリストの命令に従い貧者を支援
します。私たちはお金を配ることによってではなく、これらの人々に生計を立てるのに必要な技術を
与えることで支援したいと考えています。
「彼らに魚を与えるのではなく、魚を獲る方法を教える方がより良い」と有名な東洋のことわざも
そのように述べています。
※「知識は力なり（知識は力である。 直訳すると魚一匹を上げれば1日食べつなげることが

現在アフリカを苦しめている最悪の疫病 HIV / AIDS の犠牲になり、弱い未雇用の女性が
存在する地域においては、安房南洋裁学校は神の助けを借りキリスト教の良き道徳行動と
生活様式を重視します。雇用されることでの経済的自立の可能性とキリスト教信条への傾倒は、
これらの女性たちが HIV / AIDSの危険にさらされる機会を確実に減らす道のりに沿うものです。

以前の報告でもトイレ建設の進行状況について示してきましたが、近代的な水洗トイレが使用可能と
なりました。地域からそして海外から安房南洋裁学校への訪問者を快く自信を持って迎えることができます。

≪グルへの旅≫ グルとメデでの2週間の滞在の報告
スチュアート・センパラ氏は学校へ行き続けることができるように支援している子どもたちに
会ってきました。

２０１２年５月１６日、私はいくつかの事業と私たちが支援する子どもたちに会うためグルへ
行きました。上の写真で私は孤児の子どもたちと共に写っています。彼らは自分たちに必要な物を
得るために売る目的で自由時間にシアナッツを集めます。シアナッツはウガンダとサブサハラ
アフリカの２，３の国だけに見受けられ、有機シアナッツバター植物油（vitellaria paradoxa）の
原料であり、ボディークリームとヘアーオイルに使われます。しかしメデではそれは大部分食用油
として使われます。シアバターオイルの化学成分は地中海地域で見られるオリーブオイルのものと
似ています。シアオイルは高いレベルの不飽和脂肪酸（オレイン酸とリノール酸）、ビタミンA, D, E
そしてボディークリームに適した薬効のある生体活性複合物を含んでいます。何世紀もの間、
天然シアバターオイルはシアナッツの木が育つ地域では化粧品として知られています。シアバターの
化粧品での使用は今やヨーロッパ、南北アメリカ、アジアのいくつかの地域に広がっています。
そこではシアバターオイルは手と体のためのとても高価な保湿ローション、リップクリーム、
石けんを作るために使われています。私たちはこれらの女性グループと共に段取りを整え、
ある種の協同組合を作り付加価値を付け、メデと周辺地域がこの貴重な作物から恩恵が
得られるよう、興味を持つバイヤーを探すことを考えています。

シアナッツの外皮を取り除く作業の後ナッツは鍋で煎られ、つぶされ、お湯でボイルされ、
油分が上に浮き、水から分離され、そして瓶やジェリ缶（１９リットル缶）に詰められます。

≪Awa Minami Tailoring School≫

Putting on a face up lift of the Awa Minami Tailoring School main building has
started as it is seen in the picture above and the work is going on now.
The new classroom block is also seen in right side of the photo and
everything is now set ready to start training the students.

At this report was being filed, assembling and fitting of the sewing machines and
other items in the classroom were being done. The young man assembles
the manual sewing machines in the classroom trying to put everything in order
to get ready for students to start learning tailoring and dress making skills.
These skills will be offered to women, some of whom are refugees, widows,
abandoned, single mothers, or simply unemployed. In this way the Awa Minami
Tailoring School obeys Christ’s commandment to assist the poor. We do this,
not by handing out money, but by equipping these people with the necessary
skills to earn a living. As a famous oriental proverb states: “it is better to teach
people how to get fish than to give them fish”

Opportunities for graduates include:
-Starting their own dressmaking business
-Seeking employment in the dressmaking industry
-Obtaining employment in other fields where tailoring skills are required such as
hospitals and schools
-We are also forward to retain some of the best students to develop our tailoring
workshop as we plan to produce items for fair trade purpose.
Awa Minami Tailoring School is going to emphasizes Christian principals of
good moral behavior and style of life, pleasing to Christ, in a region where
vulnerable and unemployed women often fall victims to the worst plague
currently afflicting Africa – HIV / AIDS The possibility of financial independence
through employment, and a commitment to Christian principles, certainly goes
a long way in diminishing the chances of such women being exposed to the
dangers of HIV / AIDS.
≪The toilets of Awa Minami Tailoring School are ready to be used!≫
In the past reports, we have been shown the progress of putting up this modern
flash toilet by step and now it is ready to be used. We now feel so comfortable
and confident welcoming visitors both local and international to Awa Minami
Tailoring School.

≪Gulu Trip≫ The brief report of two weeks stay in Gulu and Mede.
Mr. Stuart Sempala met and saw children whom we have been supporting to
stay in school.

On 16th 05. 2012, I traveled to Gulu to visit some projects and also see the
children that we support in school. In the photo above, I am with the orphan
children from Mede village who collect Shea nuts during their free time to sell
in order to meet some of their needs. Shea nut is organic raw Shea butter
vegetable oil (vitellaria paradoxa) found only in Uganda and other few
countries in sub Saharan Africa which is used in making body cream and
hair oils, but in Mede it is used mostly as cooking oil. The chemical property
of Shea butter oil is similar to that of olive oil which is found in the Mediterranean
region. Shea oil contains high levels of unsaturatedfatty acids (oleic and linoleic),
Vitamins A, D and E and bio active medicinal compounds that are good for
making body creams. For centuries, natural Shea butter oil has been known
to be a cosmetic in parts where Shea nut trees grow. The cosmetic use of Shea
butter has now spread to Europe, The Americas and parts of Asia, where Shea
butter oil is used to makevery expensive moisturizing hand and body lotions, lip
balms and soap. We are thinking of organizing and working together with these
women group to form some kind of cooperatives, add some value to it and finding
interested buyers so that the Mede and surrounding communities can benefit from
this precious crop

After the outer cover of nuts are removed, the nuts are then roasted in the pan,
crushed and then boiled in water to get the oil on top which is then separated
from the water and then packed in bottles and jerry cans.

安房南洋裁学校についての報告です。
安房南洋裁学校の実習室（教室）についてです。
床は強化セメントと他の材料でしっかり作られ、教室への正面扉も鉄製で強く作られ、
内部の壁はしっくいでしっかり塗られ、学生が授業を受けているときの温度管理のために
天井が作られています。

続いて教官室（スタッフルーム）についてです。そこには３台のミシンが置かれ、
私たちの顧客からの注文に対処するためにすでに技能を身につけた者が使えるように
なります。
以下の写真（No.4)はオフィス内から見た教室の入り口で、更衣室（試着室）も写っています。

次の写真(No.5)は技量の高い職人によって完成した天井と、天井裏での何か修理が必要な
場合に備えての入り口を示しています。

最後の写真(No.6)は教官が使うオフィスデスクです。まもなく私たちは何脚かの椅子と
３台のミシンと更衣室（試着室）内の鏡、そして物事が順調に行くため必要とされる
他の物も配置します。すでに前回の報告で述べたように、教官たちはすでに決まっていて、
仕事を始める連絡をまっています。そして現在工事は終わっているので、ミシンを店から
教室へ搬入する手はずも整っています。

１、新しい学校用トイレが作られた。
２、5台の新しい手動ミシンが購入された。
３、新しい教室区域が完成。教室、更衣室（試着室）、講師のオフィスがある。
English Summary
End of the first quarter of 2012 progressive report ; Awa Minami Tailoring School
– A Classroom block with instructor’s office and dressing room –
At first, we report about inside of classroom of Awa-Minami Tairoling School.
The floor is well made with strong concentration of cement and other materials,
the front door which enters the classroom is also strong made of metal, the inside
walls have been well plastered and a ceiling has been put in place to control the
heat during class time when the students are learning.

Next, we report about instrctor’s office.
he instructor’s office (staff room) which will also accommodate three sewing
machines intended to be used by the already skilled workers to handle orders that
will be coming in from our clients.
Picture of No.3shows the entrance in the office from the classroom, and it also
shows the dressing room.
Picture of No.4 shows the good workmanship of the finished ceiling and an entrance
in the ceiling above in case there is any repair needed up there.
Picture of No.5 shows the office desk that will be used by the instructors.Soon we
will be fitting in some chairs, the three sewing machines, mirror in the dressing
room as well as other items required to make things work. As already mentioned in the
previous report, the instructors are already identified waiting to be called to start work.
We are also about to bring in the sewing machines from the store into the classroom since
the construction work is now done.
CUFI have gone through the first quarter of 2012 working so hard to see that things
get to where we want them to be in order to open the Awa Minami Tailoring School.
Below are some of the targets accomplished:-
1. New toilets were made for the school.
2. New five manual sewing machines were bought.
3. New classroom block was built and perfectly completed, consisting of a classroom,
a dressing room and an office space for the instructors

まず最初に、新しく建設された教室（建物）についての報告です。

暑さを軽減するための天井をとりつける工事が終了しました。自立に役立つ
洋裁技術を学ぶ生徒たちのための教室が完成しました！また、防犯上、鉄製の
ドアをとりつけることで、ミシンなど学校の資産を守ります。
教室自体は完成しましたが、開校のためには生徒のいすや、講師の方の机、
黒板等を設置していく必要があります。

続いて、若者の所得向上のためのレンガ製造事業についてです。
建造物の増加に伴い、レンガの需要も高まっています。

最後にカウム農場についての報告です。
現在ウガンダのほとんどの地域が雨期を迎えています。農家たちは作物の
植えつけに忙しい状態にいます。食糧自給達成の一つの方法として作物、
野菜を植えつけています。
また、火事によって駄目になってしまった松の植え替えを試みています。
これによって環境保全に貢献し、同時に収穫の時期になったら、将来の所得
向上につながるでしょう。
English Summary
We received the end of March 2012 Monthly Report from Uganda.
At first, they reported the new classroom block at Awa-Minami
Tailoring School.
They have done on the ceiling to reduce heat duaring hot days.
And, the new classroom for students who are about to start learning
tailoring skills to help them become self reliance in life had finished.
They had also put on metaldoor as burglar proof to protect the sewing
machines and other school properties that will be in there.
But they need chairs for students, desk for instructers, blackboard etc.
to open and start teaching.

Next, they reported the brick making project done by youth as income
generation project. Presently bricks are on high demand as the rate of
construction is high too.

Finally, they reported Kawumu farm.
It is now rain season in most part of Uganda and farmers are very busy
planting their crops. They are planting food crops, lots of vegetables
as a way of achieving food for self sufficiency.
At same time they are trying to replace the pine trees that were
destroyed by the wild fire. In doing this, they are contributing towards
protecting the environment, and at the same time, this being as a future
income generation when the right time of harvest finally comes.
ウガンダのNGO団体CUFI（ウガンダ意識向上財団）と日本の高校生の交流は、
1994年から始まりました。栃木県にあるアジア学院で研修を受けていた
CUFIのスチュアート・センパラさんは、交流のはじまりである1994年に
安房南高校へ来校し、スピーチをされました。
（2001年にも安房南高校へ2度目の来校をされています）
→「アフリカ・ウガンダ交流」
1994年以降、千葉県立安房南高等学校の生徒会・ボランティア委員会を中心に
ウガンダ支援活動がスタートしました。文化祭ではウガンダ支援バザーを開催し、
その売上金や募金、衣料や靴などの物資をウガンダへ送ってきました。

2000年には、職業訓練校である「AWA-MINAMI洋裁学校」が設立されました。
学校名は、安房南高等学校からつけられました。洋裁の技術を学び、
子どもたちの自立を目的としています。
しかし、2008年、高校統廃合で安房南高校は安房高校と統合しました。
安房南高校の歴史に幕が下ろされてしまいましたが、アフリカのウガンダの
地には「安房南（AWA-MINAMI）」の名前があります。ウガンダ支援活動は、
安房高校JRCへと引き継がれました。

安房高校でも毎年文化祭では、ウガンダ支援バザーが開催されてきました。
バザーで得られた支援金を送るほか、文具等を送っています。そして現地の
子どもたちと絵やクリスマスカードを通した交流が行われています。
また、戦後60年にあたる2005年に千葉県の安房地域で活躍する
アーティストたちの「美しい地球と平和をいつまでも」との思いが
込められている「安房・平和のための美術展」での収益金や募金も
ウガンダの子どもたちのために活用されています。
現在このブログでウガンダ支援活動と現地の活動について情報発信して
います。CUFIのスチュアート・センパラさんとメールのやり取り、日本での
活動等をもとに作成しています。多くの人がこのブログを読み、私たちの
活動に関心を持っていただければ幸いです。
English Sumary
An Interaction between CUFI (Consciousness Ugandan Foundation I.N.C.)
and Japanese high school students have started since 1994.
Mr. Sutat Semapla (CUFI) who has studied at Asian Rural Institute
in Tochigi Prefecture came to Awa Minami High School and gave
an excellent speech for students in 1994.
(He came to the school again in 2001.)
→Interaction with Uganda, Africa
Since 1994, the student council and volunteer committee of
Awa Minami High School in Chiba Prefecture started Uganda supporting activities.
They have held Uganda supporting bazaar in the
school festival and they have sent the proceeds, donations
and cloths to Uganda.

In 2000, “AWA-MINAMI Tailoring School” was constructed there.
The school was named after Awa Minami High School in Japan.
The school provides the skill of dressmaking with children and
helps them to become independent.
However, Awa Minami High School was integrated into Awa High
School in 2008. Awa Minami High School fell on the long history,
but there is the name of “AWA-MINAMI” in Uganda. JRC of
Awa High School took over the Uganda supporting activities.

Uganda supporting bazaar was also held in a school festival
at Awa High School. They have sent the proceeds and
stationeries etc.. They interact with children in Uganda
throughout pictures and Christmas Cards.
And “Art Exhibition for Peace in Awa” has held since 2005
which is equivalent to 60 years after the W.W.Ⅱ.. The artists
in Awa region hope “Forever Beautiful Earth and Peace”
for their exhibition with all their heart. The proceeds and
donations are also utilized for children in Uganda.
Now, we transmit information of Ugandan supporting activities
and an on-the-spot activities in this blog. This is written
based on the exchanging emails with Mr. Stuart (CUFI) and
activities in Japan etc.. We hope that a lot of people would
read this and have interests in our activities!
ウガンダから2月の活動報告が届きました。
まず、AWA-MINAMI洋裁学校に関するお知らせです。
AWA-MINAMI洋裁学校の校長のオフィスと教室1室から成る新しい建物が
建設されました。
No.1 新しく建設された建物 / NEW BUILDING
これから安房高JRC部、安房・平和のための美術展のみなさんからの
支援金をもとに購入された手動のミシンを設置していきます。
壁のペンキ塗りや照明のための電気配線、天井板の設置などの工事も
行っていきます。
現在、洋裁を教え、学校を運営するための経験豊富なスタッフの面接を
行っています。最終的に最もふさわしい2名を採用します。
毎日2コマの授業を予定し、各授業で10名ずつの生徒を受け入れていく
ということです。
そして、昨年12月に始まったAWA-MINAMI洋裁学校のトイレがほぼ完成！！
あとは配管工事や扉の設置などの小さな工事のみです。

続いて、KItalya小学校についての報告です。
長年校長を務めていたMadam Drothyがお辞めになり、新たにMr.Hoodが校長を
務められるそうです。
母のいない多くの子供たちにとってMadam Drothyは、教師であり、
「母」のような存在であったそうです。とても辛い別れですが、今度は新たに
校長となるMr. Hoodが子どもたちの「父」のような存在となってくれることでしょう。

We received a report of activities from C.U.F.I, Uganda.
Firstly, we report on AWA-MINAMI Tailoring School.
The new building which consists of a classroom and an office to be used
by the Head teacher of the AWA-MINAMI Tailoring School was constructed.

C.U.F.I is going to fit new sewing machines, paint walls and do electrical wiring
for lights etc. They will also hire two well trained staffs to handle the school.
Moreover, the toilets of AWA-MINAMI Tailoring School were almost finished.

Next, we report on Kitalya Primary School.
Madam Drothy who had worked for a long time at school as head teacher resigned.
And Mr. Hood serves as a new head teacher. Madam Drothy was a great teacher and mother
for many children who do not have mother. It was very hard saying goodbye to her,
but new head teacher, Mr. Hood will become a great father at Kitalya Primary School.

Kawumu農場は、6エーカー以上の広大な土地に恵まれています。この土地には、
オレンジ、ナス、豆、カボチャなどが栽培され、また、松の木も多く植えられています。
CUFIは、コミュニティの人々と共に持続可能な農業を目指しています。
No.1：Kawumu農場 / Kawumu farm
しかし、2月の下旬にこのKawumu農場近隣からの火が燃え移り、5年になる松林、約1000本が
焼失してしまいました。ウガンダでは、雨季は3～5月、10～12月であり、2月は乾季の時期となります。
この乾燥した天候が火事の広がりに拍車をかけたようです。
No. 2：火事の後 / After the wildfire
CUFIはこの松の木の焼失は、大きな損失である一方、教訓でもあると言っています。
以下、防火対策と共に計画している内容を報告してくださいました。
１．灰となった松の木の植え替え（松の木のストレス度合いの確認後）
２．木の間のスペースに成長の早い大豆やトウモロコシなどの穀物や野菜などを栽培
３．火事の発生を避けるための防火対策
４．枯れ葉などの燃えやすいものを減らす

Kawumu farm has large land. There are oranges, eggplants, beans and pumpkins.
Moreover, there are a lot of pine trees. CUFI tries to sustainable agriculture with community
people there.

However, the wildfire which had crossed over from immediate neighbors’bush and burnt
five years old pine trees forest and about 1000 trees of pine were burnt almost to ashes.
The dry weather contributed to the rapid spread of fire.

CUFI mentioned this wildfire is quiet a big loss, while this is a lesson to CUFI’s
activities. They gave us report which they are planning. The plan is as follows.
1. Replacing the pine trees that were burnt to ashes.
2. Growing quick growing crops such as corn, beans and vegetables in the space that
is available among the trees
3. Putting in place the fire break measures that will be well looked after to avoid
future fire out breaks that damages the forest.
4. The pine forest floor always has light vegetation and less dead materials as this
increases the fuel quantity on the forest floor and courses fires to ignite more easily.
